SAY NO TO WAGE THEFT AT LANGUAGE HOUSE LONDON!

LANGUAGE HOUSE LONDON – TIME TO PAY UP!

In recent weeks we have seen the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on ELT workers across the UK and Ireland.  With face-to-face teaching being suspended until further notice, many workers have found themselves in precarious situations with little or no work on the horizon.  The TEFL Workers’ Union has called for full pay for all staff affected by coronavirus, demanding that language schools take measures to support their staff during the current crisis.

In this unprecedented and challenging climate, rather than support the workers that keep their businesses afloat, some language schools have unscrupulously withheld wages from their employees.  Language House London is one school engaging in these unethical practices.

Language House London have recently sacked all of their staff, ostensibly because of the coronavirus pandemic.  The sacked members of staff have not been paid their last month’s wages.  It has since come to light that some ex-members of staff are owed wages dating back to 2019.

The owner, Toni Cammarota, also owns another business called ‘Toni’s Cakes and More’, based in Milton Keynes.

Companies House has banned Toni from running companies, so Language House London is trading under his partner’s name, despite the fact that Toni has undertaken all the business decisions.

The union has sent a letter demanding immediate payment of the wages owed, giving Language House London until the end of the month to reply. The next step in our efforts to secure our fellow workers’ wages is a social media week of action.

Starting on Monday the 6th of April, The TEFL Workers’ Union will be launching a week of action across multiple social media and online platforms. Each day we’ll release a short call to action, asking our members and supporters to take one small action to say:
