We’re a relatively large branch that covers most of the South West of England. We have a pool of reps and regularly look to train more.

Bristol IWW

The branch is mostly active in casework and organising campaigns. Recent casework successes have been:

* Winning Union recognition for escape room workers in Exeter

* Recovery of unpaid wages in the care sector and bar & hospitality sector.

* Representing Fellow Workers in grievances and disciplinary meetings, with victories including the reinstatement of a Fellow Worker after they had been dismissed.

* Representing a Fellow Worker and securing a win in an unfair dismissal case at employment tribunal

Office Drop-in’s

We hold worker’s rights drop-in sessions at the Bristol IWW Office. These are based on rep capacity and workers interest so drop us an email if you would like to speak to a rep or other union members about issues or organising in the workplace.

If you are looking for advice on organising or are facing issues in your workplace the IWW drop-in is a good place to access support.

The IWW office is located on the 1st floor of the Exchange, 72 – 73 Old Market, Bristol, BS2 0EJ

Branch Meetings

We hold general members branch meetings every 2nd Thursday of the month from 7-9pm for members to attend.

These are held at St Werburghs Community Centre, Horley Rd, Bristol BS2 9TJ.

These meetings include a section on ‘talking shop’ for workers to give peer-to-peer support and advice on issues and organising in the workplace.

Branch meetings are used for organising trainings, events, outreach, campaigns and supporting local workplace actions.

Branch meetings are also where we participate in the wider democracy of the union as a whole, discussing and voting on motions.

We try and deal with administrative issues on the Members Forum (open to all branch members in Good Standing) and keep face-to-face meeting time for organising and discussions.
