As IWW Poland, together with comrades from anarchist collective, Food Not Bombs group, and many other grassroots movements, we stand firmly in solidarity with the Kurdish people and the Rojava Revolution.
Sunday, we took to the streets and attended the demonstration in Szczecin to show our support for Kobanê and Rojava, as the region once again comes under brutal attack, this time by Turkish forces and their allied militias. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to stand with the people defending their land, their freedom, and their revolutionary vision.
The Rojava Revolution embodies the principles we fight for: direct democracy, feminism, ecological stewardship, and liberation from all forms of oppression, especially the liberation of women and marginalized communities. An injury to one is an injury to all – and the struggle of the Kurdish people is our struggle too.
Values that align deeply with those of revolutionary unionism and grassroots organizing. In a world suffocated by capitalism, patriarchy, and authoritarianism, Rojava is a living example of another way forward.
We recall with pride that during the historic defense of Kobanê against Daesh, volunteers from the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) joined the ranks of the YPG and YPJ, standing alongside the Kurdish freedom fighters. Their spirit of internationalism continues to inspire us today. During the darkest days of the siege of Kobanê in 2014–2015, two members of the Industrial Workers of the World, one from the United States and one from the UK – traveled to join the YPG and YPJ in defending the revolution. They did so not out of charity, but out of solidarity, understanding that the fight against fascism, for workers’ self-determination and for liberation, is a global struggle.
We condemn the silence of international institutions and media that turn a blind eye to this aggression. We call on all workers, activists, and free people around the world to raise their voices, organize solidarity actions, and stand with Rojava.
