We, the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) Sheffield branch (England), are deeply concerned about the conviction and potential for death sentence of the Iranian social activist and trade unionist Sharifeh Mohammadi.

Sharifeh Mohammadi was arrested in Iran in December 2023 and sentenced to death on what seems to be a baseless charge of “armed rebellion against the state”—a fabricated accusation driven solely by her peaceful labour activism and defence of women’s rights. Despite the Supreme Court of Iran overturning the original verdict in October 2024, it has since upheld a renewed death sentence in August 2025. Several trade unions and human rights organisations, including Amnesty International, have condemned her arrest, charges, and severe punishment. More information and sources can be found here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharifeh_Mohammadi?utm_source=chatgpt.com

We urge all relevant Iranian authorities to revoke Sharifeh Mohammadi’s conviction and death sentence and release her immediately.
