The new far-right president of Argentina, Javier Milei, has announced a series of economic proposals attacking the working class and basic democratic rights. President Milei seeks to weaken labor unions, limit democratic rights and repress protest.
In response, the Confederación General del Trabajo (CGT) have called for a national general strike on 24th January.
We have seen similar attacks on unions, workers and the right to protest in the UK and take inspiration from the decisive and material action being taken by the CGT and other unions. These attempts to repress freedoms and de-regulate the little social security workers have retained after years of neo-liberalism must be reisted by all means necessary and the general strike is a crucial component of any serious fightback to achieve victory.
The IWW sends our solidarity to all members of the Confederación General del Trabajo and all workers taking part in the general strike on 24th January.
We know this is likely only to be the start of a long struggle and we stand behind you for this and for the total liberation of the international working class behind the red and black flag!
