London IWW
London General Membership Branch is an active and growing branch of the IWW. The main sectors represented in and around London are education, retail/restaurants and construction, although we welcome all workers, students and unemployed to join. Our education workers' committee also publishes a termly freesheet, workingclassroom. Contact us if you would like to be posted a copy, or a bundle to distribute to friends and colleagues.
Organising in London
If you wish to organise at your workplace, don't hesitate to contact us. We have experienced, committed volunteers who will help you build a union presence on the job through innovative direct action and sound legal knowledge on disciplinary and grievance issues. We are also able to support workers in the surrounding towns outside London, such as Croydon, Watford and Brentwood. With the IWW you can be sure of sound advice, solid support and a friendly community of activists. We pride ourselves on autonomy, militancy and solidarity.
Monthly Meetings
London IWW meets every second Thursday of the month from 7 to 9 PM, usually in one of the meeting rooms of the Brunei Gallery at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), Thornhaugh Street, Russel Square, London WC1H0XG; closest tube station: Russell Square (click here for map location please contact us at london@iww.org.uk for meeting venue details). This meeting place is disability friendly. If you have any special needs please contact us and we will do our utmost to meet your requirements. If you have children, you are welcome to bring them to the meeting.

Victory for the Electricians! - Congratulations from the London IWW GMB
17/02/2012 | London IWW GMB - In what could be a major breakthrough for rank and file action, Balfour Beatty has withdrawn the imposed ‘BESNA’ contracts at the heart of a 7-month dispute. Balfour Beatty and six other construction companies were aiming to scrap longstanding pay and conditions arrangements and impose new contracts on sparks and other workers, involving deskilling and cuts in pay and allowances of up to 35% - with threats of dismissal for those not signing up.
Demo to Reinstate Alberto Durango at Heron Tower, Friday 10th February 2012

London IWW GMB -- Last Friday, 10th February, the IWW IU 640 Cleaners and Allied Trades Industrial Union staged a lively two-hour demonstration outside Heron Towers to protest the unfair sacking of their Branch Secretary, Alberto Durango, and demand his reinstatement.
